On February 12th, Dr. Cindy Cui, Chairman of the New Silicon Valley Offshore Incubation Center, was invited to attend a roundtable on China's digital economy supported by Arnold & Porter, jointly organized by the Asian Society and McKinsey & Company. The key guests of the conference include Sinoventure Capital President Dr. Kai-Fu Lee, director of McKinsey Global Institute Jonathan Woetzel and partner Michael Chui, former Silicon Valley Bank President Ken Wilcox, as well as representatives from other well-known North American companies.
The meeting mainly discussed the current situation and development trend of China's digital economy. Jonathan Woetzel concluded in his new report that China is currently very active in both digital investment and digital economy entrepreneurship and is expected to lead the world in the near future. Dr. Kai-fu Lee also elaborated in a humorous way the current development of the Chinese digital economy by using specific cases. He pointed out that Wechat pay and Alipay has been used by the majority of the consumers in China. So, in terms of mobile payment, China has already stepped ahead of the United States. He also talked about the development of artificial intelligence in China and the United States. He said China is currently still lagging behind the United States in terms of artificial intelligence. However, the gap is shrinking and China is expected to overtake the United States in the near future.
In the ensuing discussion, the participants discussed the differences between China and the United States in the field of digital economy. Dr. Cindy Cui commented on the topic and communicated with Dr. Kai-Fu Lee. She emphasized that the platform she founded - the New Silicon Valley Offshore Incubation Center will participate in and organize more similar events to promote U.S.- China collaboration on technological innovation and digital economy.
